In an article by Forbes; according to the Governance Studies at Brookings report “How Millennials Could Upend Wall Street and Corporate America,” Millennials will comprise more than one of three adult Americans by 2020 and 75 percent of the workforce by 2025. How do you prepare for this workforce as a growing organization?
On November 15th, I presented another “Best Employment Strategies for Millennials” interactive workshop at the One Hundred Club. It was geared towards anyone with responsibility for hiring and/or managing people in their organization. Two of the many themes we talked about were:
1) The need for feedback, which is not about ego or being lazy, but it’s about their need to ensure their efforts are aligned with the organization, meets their manager’s requirements, and that their work is being valued.
2) The desire to be part of a group atmosphere, even though, they like to be recognized as individuals, they also like to be part of the energy of a group, so be careful to avoid any perception of isolation.
